Things That Annoy Your Cat

Cats may be small, but these charming furballs certainly have big personalities. While all of our feline friends are unique, and have their own adorable mannerisms and habits, kitties do share some common likes and dislikes. In this article, a local Indianapolis, IN vet lists some things that probably annoy your kitty.

Loud Noises

Have you ever accidentally dropped a pan while your cat was in the room? Chances are, your furball headed for the other end of the house at full speed. Our feline friends like their domains nice and quiet. (This probably isn’t surprising, given that napping is Fluffy’s favorite pastime.)

Water

Bathing is definitely not one of Fluffy’s favorite things. In fact, your cat may howl miserably while being bathed. Your furry pal’s distrust of water isn’t illogical: in the wild, water can hide dangerous predators. Currents can also be very hazardous for our feline friends. Plus, cat fur gives off a strong scent when wet, which could also attract unwanted attention from other animals. Of course, maybe Fluffy just knows she looks a bit silly when she’s sopping wet. That said, there are some furballs out there that go against the majority on this one. Take the Bengal, for instance. These cute kitties absolutely love water!

Strangers

While some cats are friendly and outgoing, and have no qualms about hopping into a guest’s lap, many of our feline friends are wary and frightened of strangers. Fluffy may bolt for her favorite hiding spot as soon as she hears an unfamiliar voice. This distrust applies to other felines, too. Your furball may be a sweet, affectionate pet, but she could get extremely angry if she finds a strange kitty walking across her yard.

Improper Attention

Kitties can be very particular about how and when they like to be petted, and for how long. Some cats want to be snuggled constantly, while others will only tolerate being touched or held for a few moments. And, while some lovable furballs will flip over for belly rubs, others will bolt the second you touch that furry tummy. Too much attention, not enough attention, and the wrong type of attention are all serious offenses in Fluffy’s book!
